Who am I?
I grew up in Florida and southern Ohio. My dad is a pastor, so I grew up singing with my four siblings and my mom. We'd sing both at our church and when visiting other churches.
We learned to sing by listening to quartet music like the Cathedrals, so I still have a special place in my heart for southern gospel music!
I started playing the piano at around 15 or 16 years old because our small country church needed a pianist. I learned to love it and started playing all the time.
As a teenager, I also learned the ukulele and my parents bought me a guitar for my birthday when I turned 18. I currently play the piano at my church and it is still my favorite thing to do.
Rebecca Gee, who works in Member Services at CHM, talks about her love for Christ and how weekly Chapel plays a role in her walk.
Currently, my favorite hymn is “At Calvary”. I love playing it, listening to it, and singing it! I didn’t become a believer until I was an adult and this song sticks out in my mind because it seems to perfectly describe my testimony.
It starts with, “Years I spent in vanity and pride, caring not my Lord was crucified." Another verse explains, “Now I’ve given to Jesus everything, now I gladly own Him as my King, now my raptured soul can only sing, of Calvary.” I love the Collingsworth Family's rendition of this song and currently, I would say that they are my favorite Christian artists.
